Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a job?

Ready to change gears on the road to a new career? That’s great! Start by clicking on the Browse Jobs button above on this page. On the following page, use the filter features to narrow your search to your desired location. Once you find a position that interests you, click on the title to review the job description and compare your skills and experience to the required qualifications. When you are ready to move forward, simply click on the Apply Now button and shine the headlights on your experience, skills, education, and talents that make you stand out as our next Traf-Mark employee!

How will I know if I have been selected to interview or check the status of my application?

Once you have submitted your application, you can rest assured that a member of our Human Resources Team will promptly review your information. If you are selected for an interview, our Talent Acquisition Partner will be in touch to schedule a brief phone interview to see if your skills and our position go together like highway paint and asphalt.

If I am not selected for an interview, should I keep applying?

That all depends, so here’s the best way to decide. First, double-check the job description and make sure you meet the minimum qualifications of the position. If you do, take a moment to look at your application through the eyes of a Recruiter.

When we receive a resume, here are a few things we look for: We are looking for someone who enjoys working on a team; someone who knows how to commit to a job and stick with it; someone who understands that construction jobs involve hard work and some wacky hours (overtime, weekends, and some nights), which means we are looking for someone who is available to work and not afraid of getting dirty.  If that’s you, keep applying! Just because we fill one opening doesn’t mean that the next one won’t be yours! However, if that doesn’t sound like you, that’s okay. We’re sure you are a perfect match for another job out there even if, unfortunately, it isn’t with us.

I have never done Highway Striping before; can I be hired?

Great question! Most of our candidates have never done Highway Striping before. That’s why we have an amazing on-the-job training program, the Passport Program, that was designed to take individuals with no experience, minimal experience, or even those with years of experience and help them become Highway Striping Masters! While previous experience is helpful, the most important things we look for are a positive, can-do attitude, a commitment to teamwork, and a safety-first viewpoint. You bring the hard work and commitment, and we’ll supply all the training you need to super charge your career.

If I am offered the job, what does the pre-employment process consist of and how soon can I start?

If you are offered a position, you will need to be able to successfully complete a drug screen, background check, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and, if you have a Commercial Driver’s License, all of the mandatory FMCSA requirements.

The time frame to start is a bit trickier.  On average, unless there is a delay from a reporting agency, all pre-employment pieces are returned within 5-10 business days, and you are eligible to start working as soon as they have been returned and verified to meet our employment standards.

I have an interview scheduled! What should I do to prepare?

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will have provided you with the date, time, and address for your appointment. The day your interview was scheduled, your application and/or resume was shared with the hiring leader, so no need to bring an extra copy. Some job interviews require a suit, but we are more concerned about who you are as a person than whether or not you own a tie.

  • We recommend that you check out the directions to the location BEFORE the day of your interview so you can plan your route and figure out how long it will take you to get there.
  • For a good first impression, plan on arriving ten to fifteen minutes earlier than your scheduled time.
  • Ask questions about the job. We want you to be as curious about us as we are about you.
  • Be honest with us. We aren’t trying to hire perfect people. We are trying to hire honest people who are ready to work side-by-side with amazing teammates who keep each other safe on the job, and work to make the roads safer for everyone.
